Sungrow wins 2024 Red Dot Design Award for its iSolarCloud

Sungrow, a global leader in photovoltaic (PV) inverters and energy storage systems, has been honoured with the prestigious 2024 Red Dot Design Award, often referred to as the Oscars of the design world.

The accolade was awarded to Sungrow’s intelligent energy management platform, iSolarCloud. The innovative app empowers South African homeowners and energy managers to remotely monitor and adjust the performance of their solar and energy storage systems, whether residential or commercial.

Sleek design for easy use

The iSolarCloud app boasts a minimalist design with a user-friendly interface that includes a card-based layout for essential content and customisable sorting options. Rounded icons and expansive interactive zones enhance visual appeal and ease of navigation.

Real-time insights into system performance are provided through visual elements like charts and 2.5D graphs, making it simple to understand and manage energy usage.

Smart features for efficient operation and maintenance

iSolarCloud enhances operational efficiency with features such as one-click parameter reuse and targeted management of plants and equipment. The platform includes intelligent fault alerts and operational recommendations, and its advanced IV diagnostic technology can detect over 23 fault types, significantly reducing the need for manual inspections and lowering operational costs.

Sustainable solutions for green energy maximisation

Harnessing Sungrow’s proprietary artificial intelligence technology, iSolarCloud optimises energy strategies based on PV power forecasts and household electricity usage, potentially increasing green energy returns by over 10%*.

For South African commercial and industrial users, the platform evaluates historical electricity consumption, plant performance and grid demands to seamlessly co-ordinate PV systems, energy storage and electric vehicle charging.

Additionally, iSolarCloud tracks and displays real-time carbon emissions, providing tangible and visual assessments of the environmental benefits of PV installations.

iSolarCloud currently supports 1.98 million users across 170 countries, managing a combined capacity of 98GW with 5.2 million connected devices.

*Based on scenarios with residential PV-storage-charging systems and heat pumps. Actual returns may vary due to different household load types and power variations.
