2 min read

The Womandla Women in STEAM Awards return in August 2026, in celebration of Women’s Month in South Africa – with renewed energy, expanded reach and even greater impact.

Since 2019, the Womandla Foundation has championed visibility, access and opportunity for women and girls across science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics. Through mentorship, skills development and recognition platforms like these awards, we have continued to challenge barriers and reshape narratives around who belongs – and leads – in STEAM.

Now in its sixth year, the awards evolve into a bold new phase.

With growing national momentum and an ever-expanding ecosystem of innovators across STEM, energy, artificial intelligence and the creative economy, the 2026 edition introduces Corporate Awards Categories – recognising organisations that are driving meaningful impact through corporate social investment and environmental, social & governance initiatives.

New Corporate Awards Categories include:

  • Science Leadership in CSI Award
  • Technology Innovation in CSI Award
  • Engineering & Energy Excellence Award
  • Arts & Creative Innovation Award
  • Mathematics Advancement Award
  • Artificial Intelligence Leadership Award
  • STEAM Advocacy Award
  • Rising Star in Corporate STEAM Award
  • Corporate Champion for Women in STEAM

These additions mark an important shift: celebrating not only individual excellence but the collective role organisations play in building inclusive, future-focused industries.

The awards will once again spotlight trailblazing women, elevate powerful stories of impact and inspire the next generation of leaders across South Africa.

This is more than a return. It’s a reimagining. A new horizon.

Nominations, speaker opportunities and more ways to be part of this year’s awards will be opening soon, so keep an eye on our platforms for updates.

The future of STEAM is bold, inclusive and already in motion. And this August, we celebrate it – together.
