The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) has announced that its CEO Ravi Reddy will be a featured speaker at the 11th Healthcare Innovation Summit Africa (HISA) 2026, one of the continent’s leading platforms focused on digital transformation in healthcare.

Hosted by IT News Africa, HISA 2026 will take place on 27 & 28 May 2026 at the Indaba Hotel & Conference Centre in Johannesburg under the theme: “Connected Care, Smarter Systems: Building a Digitally Resilient African Health Ecosystem”.

As healthcare institutions globally accelerate digital transformation efforts, SANBS continues to position itself at the forefront of innovation-driven healthcare solutions through technology, data management and digitally enabled healthcare systems.

Reddy’s discussion is expected to focus on the practical application of artificial intelligence within healthcare environments, including data-driven decision-making, operational optimisation, predictive healthcare systems and the role of digital transformation in strengthening healthcare delivery.

“Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing the way healthcare systems operate, make decisions and respond to patient needs,” he says. “The conversation is no longer about whether healthcare institutions should embrace digital transformation, but rather how quickly organisations can responsibly integrate these technologies to improve healthcare delivery, patient outcomes and system resilience.”

HISA brings together healthcare executives, policymakers, digital health specialists, technology providers and innovators from across the continent to discuss emerging technologies shaping the future of healthcare. Topics covered at the summit include AI in healthcare, telemedicine, interoperability, cybersecurity, connected care systems and digital health infrastructure.

Reddy joins a growing lineup of healthcare and technology leaders participating in discussions focused on strengthening Africa’s digitally enabled healthcare ecosystem.

SANBS’ participation at HISA 2026 reflects the organisation’s ongoing commitment to innovation, operational excellence and contributing to broader conversations around the future of healthcare transformation in South Africa and across the African continent.
