“Connect, Learn and Grow Together” event brought together women-owned businesses to share knowledge and build connections

Cape Town – August 14, 2025 – Amazon South Africa hosted a successful Women’s Day event for female entrepreneurs selling on its local Shop Mzansi marketplace. The “Connect, Learn and Grow Together” event took place at the Amazon Seller Success Centre and brought together women-owned businesses from across South Africa to celebrate their achievements, share knowledge, and develop strategies for e-commerce success.

The day-long program featured a series of talks, panel discussions, and interactive sessions led by Amazon’s Third-Party Marketplace team covering critical areas, including inventory management, advertising optimisation, and brand building strategies specifically tailored for the South African market. The event also highlighted success stories from established female sellers who shared their experiences navigating the e-commerce landscape.

“At Amazon, we recognise that entrepreneurs face unique challenges and opportunities in building their businesses,” said Suzelle Abe, Head of Marketplace for Amazon Sub-Saharan Africa. “Today’s event reflects our commitment to providing them with the tools, knowledge, and community support needed to thrive in the digital economy.”

Participants engaged in interactive sessions focused on practical skills development and had opportunities to network with fellow entrepreneurs and Amazon specialists who shared insights on how to overcome challenges. The event fostered meaningful connections among business owners from diverse industries, including handcrafted goods, grocery staples, beauty products, home décor, baby toys & accessories, and more.

Successful Amazon sellers participated in the panel discussion and shared their e-commerce learnings.

Mash Ramu, founder of Four One Wine, creators of exquisite wine accessories, who served as both panelist and MC, said: “In today’s competitive e-commerce landscape, communicating your ‘why’ to customers through brand storytelling isn’t just helpful, it’s essential. Equally important is mastering effective product advertising strategies that resonate with your target audience. These two elements form the foundation of consumer-focused businesses both in traditional and online marketplaces.”

Fellow panelist, Melissa Rademan, co-founder and managing director of Rooiboslief, a company specializing in premium organic rooibos tea and herbal blends, said: “Managing your e-commerce business requires your daily hands-on involvement – it’s not something you can simply set up and forget about. Product optimization needs constant attention, and planning inventory levels ahead of time is vital. You never want to run out of stock; that’s a quick way to lose the customer trust and loyalty you’ve worked so hard to build.”

The Women’s Day seller event forms part of Amazon South Africa’s broader Women’s Month initiatives, which also include the “Amazing Amazon Women” content series highlighting female leaders within the organisation and special Women’s Month promotions across categories including Sports, Beauty, Health & Personal Care, Vitamins & Supplements, and Home & Kitchen.

Additionally, Amazon is showcasing female-owned businesses throughout August, including partnerships with businesses like goGoGogo and Gracious Bakers, reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting women-owned businesses in South Africa.
