Rapidly document your asset or processing plant

4 min read

Your existing drawings and documents probably no longer accurately reflect the current configuration of your processing plant, or manufacturing facility, after years of upgrading and maintaining your asset.

Searching for that elusive P&ID, Drawing or Work Procedure, puts you under unnecessary pressure during breakdowns, or plant shutdowns.

On top of that, worrying whether you have the latest drawing or document at hand, just adds to the discomfort.
The legal requirement to have accurate and up-to-date data packs for industrial installations, puts many owner-operators under unnecessary financial pressure, when using conventional technology to update their asset documentation.

We provide exactly what you need, really quickly, and at a fraction of the usual cost.
Imagine having a comprehensive, up-to-date, digital replica of your facility, including all critical documents, drawings, diagrams, data sheets, and manuals at your fingertips:
• Immediate access to essential information, enabling better decision-making for maintenance, safety assessments, and upgrades;
• With direct links to your existing monitoring, instrumentation and information systems;
• All from the comfort of your office (or on a mobile device out in the field, where the work has to be done).

Industrial Digital Twin (Pty) Ltd is changing the game in Sub-Saharan Africa by introducing CAXperts GmbH’s cutting-edge UniversalPlantViewer.

STEP 1: We map your physical asset in 3D, using highly efficient 3D laser scanning technology.

This laser scan data is automatically converted to an accurate, light-weight 3D model of the plant or facility. (Avoiding costly CAD modelling of the asset.) Individual equipment and pipelines are identified and isolated from this 3D model; Then we add attributes and links to relevant documents, drawings and your existing data sources.

STEP 2: Existing CAD models (in all popular formats) and diagrams (such as P&IDs in PDF format) are ingested into the same software platform. Items on diagrams are linked to the already identified 3D equipment models. This allows instantly jumping between a vessel on the P&ID and its 3D model.

STEP 3: You can superimpose 2D information, such as JPG format photos and PDF format layout drawings, directly onto the 3D model.

  • Quickly add new information or defect report data, directly to the exact position in the plant or facility.
  • Also quickly compare existing drawings to the actual plant configuration.

STEP 4: Evaluate different modification and upgrade options, in-house, without specialised CAD training.

Identify interferences and installation issues by inserting virtual pipework, equipment and structural elements directly into your 3D model. These models can be exported in CAD-friendly format and used as input to detailed designs, saving you engineering and design time, while minimizing human error and resulting delays.

Even automatically generate your own basic layout drawings directly from your 3D model.
