Earlier this month, over 100 schoolgirls from Greenbury Secondary School in KwaZulu-Natal took part in a powerful Health and Wellness Drive hosted by women empowerment organisation, Womandla, with support from underwear and lifestyle brand, Jockey South Africa. The initiative, focused on tackling period poverty and creating a safe space for young girls to learn about health, hygiene, and self-worth.

The day featured a relatable and informative session led by Dr Fauzia Hai, who spoke openly about physical and mental well-being. Jockey representative, Nelisiwe Hadebe, followed with an inspiring talk on building confidence, self-love, and setting future goals — messages that resonated strongly with the learners. In a meaningful gesture, Jockey provided hygiene and wellness packs to every girl in attendance — reinforcing the message that no girl should miss school or feel disempowered because of her period. This supports Womandla’s broader mission to keep girls in school through access and education. Bringing energy and joy to the close of the event, Womandla KZN lead, Mrs Zulaka Khan, led a spirited group exercise session, turning the school hall into a space of movement and joy.
