Big 5 Construct South Africa returns for its 14th edition from 9 to 11 June 2026 at Gallagher Convention Centre, Johannesburg, reflecting sustained growth across the country’s construction sector. The event will bring together industry professionals including contractors, developers, consultants, architecture firms and public and private sector leaders.
South Africa’s construction market is projected to reach approximately R160.65 billion ($9.8 billion) in 2026, growing at an annual rate of 4.8% as the National Development Plan 2030 (NDP 2030) and the National Infrastructure Plan 2050 (NIP 2050) support renewed government commitment to increasing both project pipelines and private sector participation.
Bringing the construction value chain together
Big 5 Construct South Africa connects buyers, specifiers and technical professionals with products, materials and solutions across the full construction supply chain, with direct access to supplier expertise.
The 2026 edition brings together exhibitors from more than 25 countries, with country pavilions from China, Italy, Malaysia, Pakistan and the UAE, reflecting the event’s international reach. The exhibitor line-up includes Stanley Black & Decker, Grundfos, Maurer Africa, TopWerk and Alumil Misr.
Running alongside the exhibition, Big 5 Talks deliver CPD-certified sessions covering technology and digital transformation, project management and delivery excellence, architecture and design innovation, and sustainable building materials and methods. The discussions will be headlined by representatives from leading organisations including the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions, Chartered Institute of Building and ILOHM, among others.
“Big 5 Construct South Africa provides a commercially focused environment connecting serious buyers with local and international exhibitors,” says Josine Heijmans, senior vice-president of the organiser, dmg events.
Addressing the infrastructure and transport delivery agenda
This year, Big 5 Construct South Africa is co-located with the South Africa Infrastructure Expo, which also includes Transport Evolution Africa – reflecting South Africa’s construction, infrastructure delivery and transport development priorities.
The South Africa Infrastructure Expo convenes government institutions, financial institutions, engineers, planners, contractors and technology providers to address the infrastructure delivery requirements underpinning the NDP 2030 and NIP 2050.
The exhibition floor will gather Turner & Townsend, Overberg Water Board and Amatola Water, alongside more than 50 local and international companies spanning the full infrastructure ecosystem.
Transport Evolution Africa joins the South Africa Infrastructure Expo in bringing together the infrastructure and transport value chain, encompassing ports, rail, road and airports, to support business connections, strategic partnerships and knowledge exchange across the continent’s transport sector.
“Big 5 Construct South Africa’s co-location with South Africa Infrastructure Expo and Transport Evolution Africa reflects the deepening link between transport infrastructure and the built environment. With buyers, project pipelines and policy all in one place, it’s a uniquely focused networking and trade space,” says Heijmans.
“The events’ co-location comes at a time when South Africa and the wider continent are advancing infrastructure delivery, investment mobilisation, construction sector growth and transport network development.”
Registration for Big 5 Construct South Africa and the South Africa Infrastructure Expo, which includes Transport Evolution Africa, is free for trade and industry professionals above the age of 21.
